Moving & Handling Of People

Back Injuries are the most common in the care sector. Incorrect  People Moving and Handling techniques could seriously injure you or your patient.  It is important that carers are protecting themselves, and correctly assisting their patients to try and give them the best support. The course is a blend of theory and practical learning ensuring staff team are up to date with knowledge of the correct techniques and equipment.

Course Aims : The aim of this course is to enable delegates to learn how to minimise handling and lifting as well as includes how to perform a risk assessment when moving people or objects – to learn good manual handling techniques. 

Course Pre-requisites: Delegates must be over 16 years of age. 

 Course Duration: (4 Hours) | Trainer: Delegates Ratio 1:12 (Max)

Target Audience:  This half day course  has been designed for all Healthcare Professionals whose work involves the Moving and Handling of People example: care assistants, care workers, care home employers, support workers etc. 
Course Content: On successful completion of this course the delegates will develop skills and confidence in the following:

Manual Handling responsibilities and legislations | Anatomy of the spine and injuries | Ergonomics | Safe lifting techniques | Principles of handling people in an environment | Risks and controls related to People Moving | People Moving – Risk assessments/ Personal plan | People Moving – Good techniques and handling aids | Practical sessions and assessments in People Moving.

Assessment Methods: Continuous observation by the trainer and practical assessments.

Certification : On successful completion of this course, delegates will receive a certification from SureSafe Training that is valid for one year.

Infection Control

The prevention and control of infection is a major priority in health and social care, where service users may be especially vulnerable to disease and the results especially dangerous. Importance of occupational infection control measures is key  and will people working in that sector must be made acutely aware of their responsibilities in managing them.

Course Aims : The Infection Control Awareness course aim is to enable the delegates to have a basic understanding and knowledge of the most common diseases in a care setting, the chain of infection and how to prevent and control infection.

Course Pre-requisites: There is no prior learning required but delegates must be over 16 years of age.

 Course Duration: (3 Hours) | Trainer: Delegates Ratio 1:12 (Max)

Target Audience:   This course is a mandatory requirement for the majority of health and social care settings It is indicated for anyone working in a role in which they will come into contact with people requiring healthcare, care assistants, doctors, nurses.

Course Content: On successful completion of this course the delegates will develop skills and confidence in the following:

Describe common diseases and the chain of infection | Understand standard infection control procedures | Apply standard infection control procedures | Correctly manage waste and spills | Understand roles and responsibilities in preventing infection

Assessment Methods: Continued ongoing assessment by the trainer and a learner workbook.

Certification : On successful completion of this course, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance from SureSafe Training

 

Administration of Medication

The Administration of Medication  course complies  with National Minimum Standards and fulfils CQC and Ofsted guidelines for administration of Medication

Course Aims : This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge required to support the use of medication in health and social care settings. They will learn about the different types, classifications and forms of medication, as well as guidance on safe storage and disposal.

Course Pre-requisites: Delegates must be over 16 years of age.

Course Duration: (3 Hours) | Trainer: Delegates Ratio 1:12 (Max)

Target Audience:   This course is designed to focus on child or adult, domiciliary, residential settings . It is ideal for anyone who has to administer medication as a part of their job role Example: Pharmacy assistants, First aiders, Care home staff, Community carers, Support workers, Doctors and Nurses.

Course Content: On successful completion of this course the delegates will develop skills and confidence in the following:

Understand the legislation relating to the administration of medicines | Understand how medication should be stored and recorded | Understand the different types of medication and how they work | Understand the protocols and policies when receiving, storing and recording medicines | Describe common adverse reactions to medication | Understand the differences in protocols between various healthcare provisions. | Importance of confidentiality and information security in drug administration.

Dementia Awareness

Dementia is a syndrome associated with a group of symptoms with the ongoing decline of the brain function. Common symptoms can include memory loss, confusion, finding familiar tasks challenging, mood swings and communication difficulties. Dementia is a growing problem in today’s society and there is no cure for it. 

Course Aims : This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge of what dementia is and the this course enables attendees to better understand dementia and to build relationships with and offer practical support to those with dementia.

Course Pre-requisites: There is no prior learning required but delegates must be over 16 years of age.

 Course Duration: (3 Hours) | Trainer: Delegates Ratio 1:12 (Max)

Target Audience:  This course, intended for healthcare professionals and those working with individuals with dementia like carers, care home employees, social workers, nurses, doctors.

Course Content: On successful completion of this course the delegates will develop skills and confidence in the following:

Understand how dementia affects the human brain | Explain memory and the signs of memory loss | Understand the impact dementia has on the human senses | The different types of dementia | How some signs of dementia can be associated with other conditions or circumstances | Actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of dementia or delay onset, and why early diagnosis is important | The impact dementia can have on individuals, family, and society as a whole

Diabetes Awareness

Course Aims : Diabetes is a lifelong condition which affects a person’s ability to produce insulin and control their own blood sugar. The course provides a general understanding of the challenges facing those with diabetes and the staff who support them. Whether the topic is relevant in your line of work, or you have personal connection to the disease, the course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of what diabetes is, how it is managed, and what causes it.

Course Pre-requisites: There is no prior learning required but delegates must be over 16 years of age.

Course Duration: (3 Hours) | Trainer: Delegates Ratio 1:12 (Max)

Target Audience:  : This course is aimed at all care sector staff and is designed to suit those working with adults, teenagers and children with diabetes.

Course Content: On successful completion of this course the delegates will develop skills and confidence in the following:

Define diabetes and what the different types are | Identify hypo and hyperglycaemia | List the risks and conditions related to diabetes | Understand the principles and benefits of a healthy diet | Support a person having a hypo and hyperglycaemic attacks | Understanding of the different forms of treatment and monitoring systems used in treatment of Diabetes.
